Very usable , I use mine everyday it may not have the acceleration of the turbo cars but in some cases it is better , with the turbo cars if you are not in the right gear at the right time the turbo drops off and the car is very flat , the n/a diesel will pull a lot better even if in a higher gear at low revs making town driving easier.( or am I just lazy?)markysimon wrote:But seriously how usable in today's traffic IS an N/A diesel?

I shall bear all these enthusiasms for N/A diesels in mind in my deliberations. The West Yorks RD is starting to look more enticing!MULLEY wrote:I never had any issues in everyday driving, i was using my TXD to do a 40 mile commute each day. Yes, acceleration isn't brilliant, but the n/a engine does rev really well when you need it to, but i tended to just use the torque available & tbh, unless someone was really making an effort i could easily outpace 90% of most cars every day as for some reason most are woeful in applying the throttle
I also overtook plenty of cars in the 7 years of ownership when they were dillydallying
Mmmmm, I must say it's getting very tempting Especially after all the enthusiasm for N/A vs. blown diesels... and the fact that the owner of the black GTi (see earlier thread) is holding out for £1700Alfonse wrote:That is a really rather nice looking 19RD, started life on the Isle of Wight from the 'DL' registration number by the looks of it.
I've run both N/A & Turbos - both are very different to drive and demand different driving styles. Driven carefully, 'Rene' (turbo) equals 'Bleriot' (n/a) on fuel consumption
Forgot to mention that there's an '89 turbo diesel on the C&C site, but it's much higher mileage, has ugly steel wheels and looks a bit weary...markysimon wrote:
