BX 14 TU engine - exhaust question

Post by Stinkwheel »

Are any of you good folks familiar with a 14 tu engined front exhaust down pipe?

The (t)rusty StTropez has had a new front pipe today and the bracket under the sump had its bolt missing. Anyone know if it's anything special? I've tried a selection but nothing goes into the gearbox casting and takes.

All advice welcome :D

it should be an M8 allen key headed bolt , the same type that hold the starter, also as the bottom back corner of the gear box/clutch housing on the larger engined BX's, with a thick washer under its head

It's one of the bellhousing bolts IIRC. M10x1.5, but has an allen head with smooth washer built in as you won't get a hex headed bolt down there with a socket on. Got loads at work, but it's the same as the usual gearbox bolts on TUs and XUs.

Thanks folks for the very helpful replies. The issue is I thought it would be a gearbox bolt. They don't fit and I think it's been previously drilled out by the look of it..... Deep joy, fixing others bodges!!
