Existence of a Fuel Sender Substitute

Post by Slagtrooper »

I'm thinking about it.
Here in Brazil is almost impossible to find one. Something near that are the senders from 90's FIAT's. Tempra, Uno, Tipo - Only them have tubular senders.
But i don't know its resistance values, neither dimensions. Besides the OEM part, exist some chance to have a substitute for it?

If you can find one out of a Citroen AX, they fit (just), but they ain't quite as accurate as the AX seems to have a slightly deeper tank.

Good luck.

if you dont like that price try doing a goooogly seach with the part No.

Yeah, i think i will have to import one of these :(

The C15 is even rarer than the BX here in Brazil.
Popular cit's here are only the non hydros ones :?

My last hope is trying to adapt the FIAT ones, but i'm skeptic about it. Is not only a problem of fitting physically, but showing correct readings on the dash.
I make that kind of questions because i want to make a chart with compatible parts from other makes for the BX - This is extremely handy for people that have the BX, but in a place with scarce OEM parts available. Specially Citroen nuts that try to have one in Brazil

Anyway, thank you for the tips, David and citronut. If i find something, i will post here.
July i will update often my blog as i finally will enjoy my beloved vacation and a little more bucks to spend.

Call them, they are okay to deal with, and hopefully they will post to Brazil. I spoke to them last week about some Volvo parts.

I suspect the tank on a 4x4 is slightly deeper - the bottom of the tank certainly seems lower in relation to the sills on mine compared to my other 2.

I found one of these - The seller told me by e-mail that this part is for the BX tank; I doubt it.

The "RHEOSTAT" (as says in the catalog) don't have i/o for the fuel, only the 3-way connector.

Dunno about the bit that's in the tank, but the top looks similar to the sender on the Visa - the fuel lines are separate on the diesel's at least (and I suspect the GTi aswell as I believe they have the same tank).
