Looks very familiar that 1.6 lump.....

Mind you, your bodywork is much better than the state of mine!. As you will have noted, not too hard to get at most of the critical engine bits ie cam belt etc. Surprised there wasn't a sheet of plastic over the bores though, still a vacuum cleaner will suck out the dead flies etc....

Andy, that looks fantastic. Chevronics do a lovely job, but you know that already. I thought I'd spent a lot of dosh on the St Tropez, but that was nothing compared to this job - it'll keep Rob busy til Christmas!

Mollie's front subframe looking good too, being put back together.

What an easy way to replace the steering rack gaitors, utter bastards in situ.

Everything once done will be covered in waxoil too. She hopefully wont go out in the wet or when there is salt on the roads, but ime not sure that will be a problem with the amount of rustproofing she will have.

A lot easier to get at that front brake Y piece with it all disconnected!. Nice work, she will be better than new!. Are those anti roll bar pillow blocks just 'bolted up' for the time being? as in just to keep together as an assembly. Only I seem to remember one end is a captive nut and the other an 8mm bolt.

Dont know the answer to your question Tink, ime so far away from the motor at present, however, ime sure Rob is sorting it correctly.

Did get down to Malcolm again today though as the TGD had decided to wet the floor at the rear, albeit only very slightly. Offside rear cylinder decided to let go because the gaitor was ripped and a leak back pipe had come loose. It turned into quite an easy quick fix as someone had only recently been working on it and everything came undone easily. Decided to replace cylinder with a NOS one i had as the original had a deep pit in it which would have failed sooner rather than later.
My only complaint was the standard of Malcolm's usually high hospitality in that he decided to fob off on me some low quality red label tea which quite frankly wasnt so nice. Ile be bringing my own when i visit in Sophie tomorrow.

Note the gaitor held on with a cable tie!!

The ram came out very easily.

Job done.
