I drive 5W40 full syntethic (Total Quartz9000 or Yacco VX600 or VX1000) in all my BX's, Xantias, 2CV and lawn mowers (both B&S and a Hatz diesel). With no problems, and they even start at the wintertime ;)

Right finally got to look at this today. The distributor cap is a red/brown/orange colour. I couldn't see any names or part numbers on it and with light fading I didn't want to start removing it.

The colour is not important, the shape will tell you if it is either Ducellier or Bosch, and for fun there are two versions of either one AFAIK....

Best thing is to let the supplier see the part if possible, assuming replacement. If not make a good part dimensioned sketch of the item. In my experience worth changing every 25-30k miles along with rotor arm to keep the spark/timing good. There is a little too much pitting on both the rotor arm and the insides of the cap where the takeoffs are, when the items are past best. I've known them work on some cars till 100k but the state of them was dire and eventually the car won't start. Replacement helps your fuel economy so worth doing as you get it back in petrol costs.

No I don't have a Webasto, BX doesn't need one. It starts and stays warm, unlike these newer cars. They start but won't warm up.

FWIW my old 14RE (150C engine) had a Ducellier distributor and a red ochre cap (screw on) and my 16s have Bosch type with black caps. There are still two ie male/female types even for the Bosch.
