It's got 2 relays and all the wires and connectors ready to fit any H4 equipped car, fitting takes 5 minutes. It gave some 2 volts more to the bulb (voltage taken directly from alternator instead of battery), and there is a big difference! The biggest is, that now any "superbright" bulb like nightbreaker will break in two months... . But instead, you get a lot more light with normal H4 bulb (dont' use the cheapest as they will break because of the voltage). And this allows you to use 100W bulbs also without frying the original light switch!

Can you tell us where you got this from? I always fancied doing Matt's upgrade but have been too lazy to make a loom up; this I could possibly be bothered to do!

They're available at Biltema, that's a swedish shop for car&household stuff. I think they don't send abroad, they do have shops in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biltema

A quick google for 'H4 wiring harness' brings up a whole load of outlets for a harness like this in the UK, such as this £12.99 offering from eBay

That's to do with the way the human eye perceives brightness - it needs to be around double the output to be seen as a significant improvement.

Just to add to the loom topic, I got the set that can handle the higher wattage bulbs (the "off-road" ones). It seemed sensible for just a few quid more.
