Hydraulic pump and pressure regulator - differences

Post by KevR »

Anyone know how to identify a hydraulic pump? Got the chance to buy a new old stock one but it doesn't have a part number I can trace (just a ticket with 460885). Seller says it's a 'five piston' type. RIng any bells with anyone?

Another seller has a pressure regulator (disjoncteur - bit the acc. sphere screws to). Seller says it's for BX but part number is 95 588 683 - which as far as I can make out os for a CX auto. BX part number should be 95 588 682. Anyone know what the differences are (If any?)

All help gratefully received - happy holidays by the way!

AFAIK there are only 2 regulators. With PAS and Without.

Most people identify the pumps based on where the outlet is (i.e. how it mounts). I believe there are different pulley sizes but have never seen any.
I have zero patience for your tedium.

I believe the five piston type is for a car without a fluid diverter valve for the power steering ie not a BX.

Known as a 3+2 (suspension + steering outputs).

Erm, BX's DO come without PAS & FDV.

But not with power steering directly driven from the pump!
