Engine mounts will not be the same as a valver and that will cause you real problems.

You're thinking of the suitcase engine.

Well, either way it's in the right colour, and my family ranch is in Herefordshire, so I'll register my interest in it as a spares car, but obviously if someone would keep it in one piece that would be even better.

Possibly a silly question, or rather one that's already been thought about, but isn't it worth getting the work done and keeping it?

A new or good used rear arm a bit of welding shouldn't cost the earth and then sell it as is or run it.

Alas the BX has reached the end of the road for me as I've got a everyday replacement car and a Caterham to race this year, so if you want it for spares, it's yours- give me a call tomorrow to arrange collection. It does run and drive, yes.

If I had the space, I'd have had it. TU-equipped BX14's are a lot of fun.

Malcolm - it is drivable! I'd be interested except I want to find a nice diesel XM!

Yes, picked it up yesterday, my new C5 performed admirably as a tow car.

I was hoping to salvage it as a car but having seen it I think it's probably a bridge too far. It needs some significant inner wing welding as well as the arms sorting out, and the interior (though insanely comfortable) would need a fair bit of tidying too.

It is the correct colour for my silver one so I'll be using as much of it as I can, but there are bound to be 14 specific bits available, drop me a PM if there's anything you need.

Does anyone know would be involved in swapping the roof panel with my sunroof-equipped one? Is there a logical place to unpick welds etc, or is that a crazy idea...?

surprisingly few spot welds hold the roof panel on, it's mostly glued on. You'll have to remove the windscreen to get at the welds across the front, the rear you can see with the hatch open.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Gary Cole successfully swapped roof skins on his race car 'Bertie'.

Good stuff, I'll drop Gary a message on the 16v forum then. I think that's the way to go.

I've charged the battery but the engine doesn't turn - I'm thinking that either there's something wrong with the starter motor, or the engine is seized. How could I work out which?
