Why not? A few meters of 3.5 Cunifer will sort it....

It actually seems like at around the 22-28 year old cars require a re pipe front to rear and new fuel pipes. If your really lucky with a never used in the salt car it might be a while longer, seems more an age issue tan abuse to be fair, and I don't doubt you have a decent car Philip. This age car also will be looking at a second replacement of cooling hoses and likewise front brake flexies. As for wishbone bushes and droplinks etc, well mileage may be more critical. One problem for carburettor cars is the age of the diaghrams and how they react to increasing levels of ethanol.

I'd be quite interested in running a steam or fuel cell powered BX but that may be possible in the next decade.... Even better with no road tax...remember 40 yr old vehicles pay none and it is now a rolling target...., please note Mothman!.

The car's back with me and initial impressions are good. Much, much better - I'm glad to report. But bloody hell, does it need a hoovering out, thorough wash and polish!

I'll have to see if it leaves a green calling card on the road over night, but hopefully sorted. Until the next thing: Actually there is still a list, including sunroof drain tubes, and this and that, as well as a few Challenge-specific jobs... but it's a much shortened list.

No pics until shiny!

I've had the GT 7 years plus and there are still little jobs to do on that Phil so don't worry!

You are doing well!
The lists on mine are getting longer all the time as I become less inclined to work on them myself.
But we don't have BXs to just look at and talk about do we, do we ?
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

Right, the car's now something I really look forward to driving: I've put a few local miles on it, but it really needs a good run. It's still, however' dropping a bit of LHM, so it's not entirely fixed, but much better than it was. Forgot haw nice it was having new struts fitted.

New Speedlines and tyres to go on soon.

I'll wait for a few weeks (assuming the leak doesn't get worse) and get it checked again when it's serviced (and maybe, the ABS is replaced with the working loom/ECU I have here).

Then it's on to cosmetics - (I really can't face doing anything with the sunroof at the moment) - and fitting the newly acquired Sony head unit and door speakers.

A summary. Before the next phase:

Bought the car in August 2014 with an new MOT (ha! >:( ) from dodgy firm in Wolverhampton, with 91k miles showing.

Since then I've dried it out. (Which took a lot of patience!). Sunroof sealed up for now... drain tubes to do in the spring...

Here's a list of work carried out (much by Phil Boxall - a legend)... to this point, although there will be more week by week...

Driver’s window regulator replaced with new.

Replaced all dash bulbs incl. heater panel.
Rear fog lights repaired.
Fuel feed and return lines replaced.

Replaced front discs and pads.
New front flexible hoses fitted.
New passenger side strut top.
Both front struts replaced. New OE return pipes/clips.

LHM tank/filters cleaned.
Replaced LHM and bled system.

Front splitter repaired.
Tailgate repaired.
Front wiper motor replaced with refurbished unit.

New seal around intercooler duct.
TZD decals replaced.

Rear arm bearings done.
New front spheres fitted.
Rear spheres replaced.
Rear discs and pads replaced. Brakes all bled.

New stop solenoid fitted.

Welding to rear boot floor and exhaust hanger done.

More LHM poured into the tank.

Oh, and at least six treatments with Redex in that time too.
