Disc Removal

My BX failed it's MOT today on worn front discs & a split O/S CV boot, I removed the nearside disc no problem but the offside one is solid, i can't budge it, any tips?

Give the contact area between the disc and the hub a soak with Plusgas or similar, then give it a clout with a hammer. Take care not to miss and belt anything else

I take it you've removed the locating screws, yes of course you have

Yes,they both sheared, oddly enough both N/S locating screws came out easy as well, i will go & soak it then leave it overnight

Alternatively remember the old discs are disposable so you can grind them to death or cook them to death!

My old Cavalier discs were solid on too.

I started with a block of wood and hammer, in the end i resorted to a huge lump hammer and no block of wood. They shifted in the end.

I had the same problem with mine many years ago. Just a question of having enough courage to wallop it with a lump hammer.

BE CAREFUL - in theory the disc could shatter and you should protect yourself from the shrapnel that might be around. This means goggles and possibly some other protection for your body and head.

When the disc is off make sure that the hub face is very clean and flay (no rust) before you fit the new disc - so that it sits flat.

It's off, a puller,alot of heat & a big hammer did the job eventually
