blower fan

Post by womble3go »

Hi,

The blower fan , has gone nuts once the keys in and turned on the fan is on full blast what ever setting you put it on either blowing to car or engine bay depending on other setting?

I have tried a different fan only put in the one plug (2 wire one)as not remover-ed the old fan yet and control panel.

Any ideas, thanks in advance.

Your control transistor has failed short-circuit.

Yup, what he /\ said :-)

It's situated in the duct that houses the fan motor.
They think it's all over, it is now!

All fixed or replaced to be right as I had a spare unit, just need to fix the old one but it back on the shelf.

This is quite a common fault, i have kept my duff units as these are quite hard to find now and expensive, im no electronics wizard but it looks like some sort of heat sink with a few transistors? On it, surely someone on here can repair them? Electrokid??

Good writeup - I replaced the transistor on one of my spares with an equivalent but this wasn't quite right and the motor ran slow to slightly fast at full speed!
