Cheers chaps, be good if it inspires others to have a go, or helps them in some way.

When i got a set of Payen head bolts they did'nt come with any 'instructions' just had the Haynes...
Actually quite useful to have an angle for the slackening part of the process, as I will admit the wording 'slacken' whilst sequentially trying to get all the bolts even has a little room for manoevre. Tbh on my bike engines I just used 'feel' after using a torque wrench a couple of times on head bolts and breaking a rocker stud thanks to an incorrect figure in the workshop manual on one bike.... and yes it was a 7mm thread... just so easy to find!.
That Megane looks like a 'challenge' maybe a time trial... especially the +/- 2 degrees....

That's just an unfinished engine design!

Bloody hell, just caught up with this and can't believe the amount and quality of the work you've done Kitch. Well done mate but you did obviously bring it all on yourself by naming the blog 'no one has 56k any more' ; this now obviously relates to the restoration budget rather than modem.
I'm a little disappointed to find out later mk1's don't have the bearing front wishbone set up, I was looking forward to seeing the difference in ride quality on mine when I get it on the road.

Ha! Yeah the budget would be crazy if I wasn't doing it! To be honest, it'd be hard to justify a budget of 2k on a BX. You've got to really love them!Defender110 wrote:Bloody hell, just caught up with this and can't believe the amount and quality of the work you've done Kitch. I agree about the bearings. At the same time, a non bearing setup is much, much easier to overhaul. There is also a chance yours was built before the switch, of course.

I drive a Saab mate, though I would contest it's probably the most handsome car I own lol.docchevron wrote:erm, you're aware I drive a fugly C5 these days right?!
