Hi all, I would like to get my GT''s carb rebuilt and set up properly. Does anyone know of any carb specialists in the south? I have found two and sent emails off, one in London and the other in Salisbury. There doesn't seem to be that many on the web, im sure there's probably loads tucked away in rural garages in the countryside etc (he hopes).
Also, I have been calling the carb a 32/34 Solex Z1, is this actually what it is? Any info on it would be good.

Re: Carburetor Specialist
The Carburettor Hospital were helpful with my Renault Master's carburettor. Would recommend.

According to the brown Haynes (to '87), which should cover your GT, it should have a Solex CISAC 34-34 Z1 381. This is for the 159 engine, ie 1.9 petrol. I thought a 32-34 was wrong as that is the 1.6 carb generally, afaik, I'm quite familiar with them....
However the drawings in the brown manual are pretty good and should let you strip one and clean it. Worth getting the carb overhaul kit, so you can change quite a few diaghrams and gaskets, accelerator pump, possibly the needle valve assy. TBH the manual choke version of he Solex is pretty easy to sort, the autochoke is less so because of one particular not available diaghram..... If you can't clean it with carb clean and some compressed air, I'd be pretty surprised.
I got a kit from Gower and Lee, Kitch posted a kit he had sourced so some of this stuff is around. Make sure you have a new air filter and the crankcase rebreather pipe is clean - no crud in the oil filler cap etc etc if you want best results on set up.
