Diesel BX wanted

Post by derskine »

I'm looking for a diesel BX estate preferably but a hatchback may suffice.
I'm in Scotland but prepared to travel for one.

Turbo/Non turbo not important, must be a manual.
Don't mind one that needs some work (including bodywork).

Cheers

mijfife: Definitely need to have a chat, hopefully will have a BX in the next couple of weeks.

That looks cracking!
Mine is just a standard Imp engine for now, I'm very much considering the BMW K100 conversion though.

I'd be interest to see some pictures of your conversion?

Kitch, i'm intrigued that your imp is Citroen propelled, do tell me more :D

Daniel, there's a few guys locally that have done the BMW conversion, certainly gaining popularity on the imp circuit. Loads of info on The Imp Club forum too. I'm the Area Center rep for the Fife area of the Imp Club, we hold a monthly meeting on the first Monday of the month at The Crooked Glen at Halbeath, you'd be very welcome to come along if you want. I don't think I know of your car, would be good to meet up for a natter. here's a pic of my imp too :D

Nice one Kitch, that looks like a decent conversion.
I've heard of the TU conversion but hadn't seen pictures of one.

mijfife - I would very much like to get along to one of those sometime. Perhaps December, though, I will be putting the Imp into storage over the winter shortly (It's awkward to get the Imp in/out of my unit as there are two pillars to negotiate).

Interesting conversion Kitch, bet it goes well!

Daniel, give me a shout if you are planning on coming along to the meet one night, I'll arrange to meet you in the carpark, save you looking for a whole lot of people you don't know.

Your Imp has been spotted a few times, once in Tesco's carpark by the wife of a local member back in February! I even put a post on the Imp forum to see if anyone knew it

I'll pm you my contact details, should you want to get in touch.

I may be considering selling my Bx diesel estate
93 model for a convertible in spring .
Bought on eBay at beginning of year
180,000 miles non turbo 1.9 diesel
Runs a dream , not long had belt/pump done
Loads of paperwork
Chap whom I bought it from did 40, thou commute in last two years .
Really love the car & would only sell for right amount though as worth more to me than prob value . Currently in borders whilst family member uses for about 50 miles a week .
I'm in west Lothian .
Let me know & I can send some pics
It has elec Windows & non leaking sunroof .
Black paint crazed a bit at back , but no bad rust just all original & interior in amazing nick !
Was looking at low mileage engines on eBay ( might be worth a buy) but to be honest , looking after this car as well as my others , may just see how much these engines can do , thought these were just run in at 150' thou .
Only thing I need to do is put a newer style radio in as the original radios screen failed and I left it on , running battery flat . Unplugged , charged the battery & fine . So may get a replacement one on tinternet !!

These engines will go on for ever if looked after with regular fluid changes, taxi drivers in the late 80's early 90's clocking up 4/500k's was not unusual, my current turbo diesel is on 294k only needing a recent turbo rebuild due to heavy oil consumption. I have personally put in excess of 160k tho it is on it's 3rd clutch and has had 4 cambelt changes in this time. If you look on Diesel Bobs' website he says the XUD7/9 engines are amongst the best top ten diesel engines ever built.

Very reassuring to know . I'm definitely keen to keep originality going in these , sure to be saught after classic estate cars in the near future .

They do still seem to be reasonably cheap for what type of car they are , very much in the 'practical classic ' category . You'd struggle to find a lot to match !

Will get its fresh mot done for 1st March and see if there's interest shown

Hi, unfortunately, the need for a diesel became quite strong and hence I bought an XUD powered Peugeot 205 STDT which is currently doing me good.

mijfife - I think I saw you last night in Rosyth, I tried to catch up with you but got stopped at a roundabout. I'll get along to an Imp meeting at some point but the Imp is in storage for winter now.
