BX alloys and interior

Post by classicnut5 »

Hi, does anyone knoe what other cars wheels will fit straight on a BX as I want to fit some nice alloys to my estate? Also how much and where could I get some excellent seats/ interior for my 87 estate?

I've seen wheels from ZXs and Xantias on BX's before, and I believe some C5 wheels may fit. May be worth checking out the equivalent Pug models too (405, 406, 306, 309 etc).

205 GTI wheels will fit fine as will the 'steel' aluminium 15in from early C5s.

I've seen Saxo alloys too on a BX but they don't look good IMO!

peugeot/citroen some ford as long as the stud pattern is 4 x 108, you may have trouble getting anything any wider than 6J on the rear.

Its not quite as simple as that as Ford wheels have a much greater offset as do some of the Peugeot wheels. For a BX the offset needs to be in the range 16–22mm in order to fit without problems. Ford wheels mostly have an offset of 35–40mm and will require spacers to fit. From memory I think the 206 alloy wheels have a greater offset as do some of the 406 wheels.

this is my tzd turbo with some pug 205 gti alloys on, picked them up locally off ebay for about £50 for 5 rims they were in quite good condition just needing a little attention and a coat of Wurth wheel paint. seem to be plenty about on the bay. you will need longer bolts for this type.

Best wheels for an estate are either 5.5J GTi/TZD Speedlines (6J 16v rims are too chunky IMO), or 205 GTi 1.6 Pepperpots, but they're quite a contrast to the BX's lines. Saxo etc...all too modern.

I had a set of Peugeot 307 15" wheels on my Xsara, and I ended up putting them on my BX. They looked great on the car however the only problems were that they needed some wheels spacers to fit properly (But they needed the same spacers to fit on the Xsara correctly) & that the tyres that I had on them were too wide for my BX. I had 195/55 R15 tyres on them, which were great for the Xsara, but too wide for my BX.

Maybe you could try some of these, Or maybe even some Xsara wheels as they are the same offset as the BX wheels. But bare in mind that some of them look similar to Saxo wheels, which IMO don't look great on the BX. I tried saxo wheels & my original Xsara wheels on my BX & I didn't like ether, but the Peugeot wheels, IMO, looked OK.

Hope that helps.

I don't want to start a new topic for this so decided to bump this one...

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit 13" rims on a base model BX14?

In a word... No. They won't pass the brakes. The smallest that'll fit a BX is 14".
