Fitting radio/cd

I'm retired in France and recently bought a 1991 Citroen BX 'Image' 1.6 as a second car 'pour les week-ends'. Doesn't have a radio/cd player so I looked at a few second-hand items out of curiosity on the French 'Leboncoin' site (it's France's equivalent of eBay, sort of). Spotted what looks like a good 'un for €65 (about 60 quids) - a Sony MEX-BT3900 - being sold locally (I'll try loading a photo). Would this modern radio thing be ok to fit in a relatively oldish car such as the BX (sorry if it's a stupid question)? Merci d'avance. Bonne journée.

it should fit perfectly, however most modern radios use a ISO universal connection system, the BX does not have this so you need a BX to ISO adapter cable. Basically the cables and the plugs inside the BX are none standard. Typically on ebay for around 12GBP

All above assuming the SONY uses an ISO standard connector - google suggests it does.

If not. Then its time for some cable connectors to be added to make it connect.

I think BX just has one +12v live (a permanent live) arriving at radio, so it's not switched off automatically with the IGN.
You need to remember to switch off on the radio itself.
Sony radios normally have two +12v input connections: one perm live (for memory) and the second for +12v via IGN switch.
You can either just join these together***, or run a wire to somewhere "IGN switched", like the indicator stalk.

*** If you download a copy of Sony's user instructions for the radio (from Sony's own website), it will have all the connection options info under Installation.

Typically on a bx there is only a permanent live supply for the radio, you will most likely need a switched live as well-fed from the ignition, pretty easy install.
