Shaky wing mirror

Post by RobC »

The glass in my offside wing mirror is very juddery.

Is this an easy fix? Will I need a whole new wing mirror or can I just replace the glass and whatever it is that holds it steady

Look just above the mirror around the middle for a tiny little locking lever, it might equally be below the glass due to the time lapse since I last removed one. Move this fully in the direction it will go sideways and the glass can then be removed. It may be that the metal internal housing has broken off from the external plastic housing or it may just be loose. Once off you can check out the cause.

I have vague memories of mirror glass replacement - very vague.
Haynes ("Mirrors") details two types of door mirror glass replacement, different for Hohe and Britax fitments, and how to tell them apart. One involves springs, the other adhesive. :(

If I remember correctly. A couple of screws holds it in place

Remove the door card for access.
It’s an easy job. Screwdriver /torx tool and something to pop the door card off
