Thank you Jaba for your offer but as far as I am aware the 8V speedo has different gearing to the 16V one. If anyone knows differently then I would be gratefull if they would spill the beans, as you might say.
Cheers

the 'gearing' si as best i know determined by the gearbox/diff output and after that everything is the same! I've had everything in my current BX (1.9rd, 8v GTi and 16v speedo unit) and they all give exactly the same reading (use my dads picasso to calibrate) so i dont think there is any different accross the range diesel or petrol BE1 or BE3 (the 19rd speedo was for a BE1 gearbox, but worked fine on the BE3 box, though i did swap the speedo and gearbox drive unit at the same time! Actually thinking about it i still have the original BE1 19rd drive unit in the current Xantia gearbox as it originally had an electronic drive unit, hmmm maybe thats the solution to dodgy drive cable, make the damn thing electronic!

Hello ta I was going by the fact that the number on the face is different on the 16V and I thought the internal gearing would be different as the diff. ratio is different etc. Tried a spare 19 rd one and that was a mile out.
More investigation called for I think.
Thankyou.
Cheers.

I connected a TD speedo drive to an 8V speedo head, seemed accurate enough, never registered 200 MPH or got me photographed!

Goodevening Bernie Thank you, when it stops raining I will remove the Head and check the number, From memory, which is not too good, all the numbers are the same apart from the last two which are 02. I will confirm asap.
