It`s been collected, it`s outside my house and I`m not a happy camper. Seems he must have `forgotten` to tell me it smokes all the time under heavy acceleration (not just when started from cold as he told me) and the clutch is slipping under medium-ish to heavy acceleration
Options: take the f*cker back and put him on his arse (extremely tempting) whilst retrieving my cash from his pocket, put up and shut up or get it sorted.
Aside from that it does drive very nicely and has full ticket on it, not enough to keep my thoughts of dismembering him out of my head though

Smoke may stop once warmed up and blown through, a service and it may go away altogether, especially if the car has been standing for a while.

Cheers Stewart. He`d told me it did it on start up and ran rough for the first `couple of hundred yards` then it was fine.
Not the case on the 40-ish mile journey home where it smoked fairly badly under heavy acceleration, though I`ll concede a service/Italian tune-up might help.

:( Forty miles ought to have done the trick.

Just spoken to Vanny who followed me some of the way back. He says it only smoked when I booted it otherwise seemed ok and suggests it MIGHT be the air filter.
I do have another plan if it comes to it: I have a spare engine which would go very nicely in this car  and I could have the octopus renewed at the same time (plus anything else I might find) to be on the safe side.
