Something like these may help get the manifold nuts off.

I think they're bolts rather than studs which means that if you're lucky the bolts will snap off. If you have a MIG it may be possible to weld something on to enable you to grip the nuts - and in fact the welding temperature will probably enable the nut to be undone when it cools.

I'm not sure what the access is like byt again it may be possible to get a drill on the nut and drill it out. Takes a steady hand to drill the bolt endways but it can be done.

Thanks mate, thats a handy link. I'd have to buy the expansion pack aswell (need the 10mm), so thats over £40 all in! But its handy to know such a thing exists.

I had entertained the idea of drilling it too, but I'd need a long drill bit and even longer patience!

I don't know why its described as an expansion pack as both kits just seem to be about 5 sockets - no doubt selected so that to do any useful work you need both sets.

From what I can see, the 'expansion set' is all the common sizes you're likely to need too

Car is now taxed and completed 45miles tonight (with a fairly solidly planted right foot  ) with no issues at all.

Except the gear linkage falling off again :(
