1984 19rd

Post by Martyn »

I have acquired the car which has been resprayed dark blue and apparently looks good(I have yet to pick it up). As I live on Loch lomond I realise it is a long way for most, but I require the exhaust and little else. Please pm me if there is anything you want, pref. with landline number. All I want is to get rid with minimal expense, doors are off it as is trim(light blue). Good runner, new pump etc., I lack energy and skills to put it together. Open to suggestions. Martyn

Before you break a 1984 diesel....

Do you know which month the car was registered? 1984 was the first year that a BX diesel was available, so there's a risk you may be breaking the earliest BX diesel left in the UK..... please don't do that! I felt bad enough breaking and scrapping a 1985 17rd recently.

If you're in need of a 1.9D exhaust, I have one here you're welcome to. That said.... I am the opposite end of the country to you, so it may be of little value.

If the car is basically solid (which the 17rd I broke wasn't!) then it must be worth saving...

Mott, whats actually wrong with the car? these mk1's are extremely rare & it would be shame to trash it if its saveable? If you want an exhaust there are loads of brand new one's on e-bay for little money....

What car is the exhaust for?

Mott, please give us a full description! If there's any chance of saving that car, someone on here will! If it means saving an early Mk 1 diesel, I'll give you the exhaust off my '86 19RD!

Just got logbook- car registered 30/01/85 B reg. Interior blue. I still haven't seen it but I believe it is mint bodily, sprayed dark blue with light metallic speckle (seen one panel - looks nice) Under a great deal of uxorial pressure not to bring it home (or very briefly). over to you!

Mott: If there is a number stencilled on the front passenger's door jamb, we can calculate the build date from it. It will be a four figure number in characters about half an inch high. It really sounds as though you have a very early car there so if you can, give us the number.

Owner is champing at bit to get car removed from third party's farm. I can only give you chassis number - VF7XBXC0010XC4146. iI hope this helps. Reg no is B541 HRM. Good engine(thet I was going to remove) new pipes, spheres etc. I would rather it went to a good home. Exhaust is for my 92 txd. BTW I have both 1.7td and 1.9d, while the latter is slower, I prefer the slightly lazier power delivery. However a tzd2.1 still remains my fantasy.

In which case it will not fit, as the '85 1.9D is the 65BHP "square port" engine, wheras your '92 txd will have the 91BHP "oval port" engine.

The exhaust manifolds are different, and hence so are the exhaust pipes.
