if i can find a set of alloys like these i'll be happy as they would blend nicely with the car
and not stick out like a sore thumb





now i know that it would be better to stick to 14" or maybe 15" but not wider than a 195 50 tyre

re speedo error,
on mine i used a gps prior to fitting the wheels to accurately test the error in the speedo it self,
On the standard 16v alloys the speedo had a 6mph over read error throughout the speedo range,
with the 17's on the car the speedo over read by 1.5mph throughout the range, so effectively fitting the larger wheels the speedo become more accurate, effectively 18" wheels should have left my speedo reading the true speed!

On speedlines and 195/60s the hooligan is approximately 5 mph underreading, the Xantia on Activa alloys underrreads by a similar amount, the dispatch on its standard steels is within one or two mph of true?

classic2cv - those alloys look like the 14" ZX alloys I had on a previous BX which were reasonably serviceable and didn't upset anything too much. The Gti 15" alloys will fit an estate with no great problem as that's what my current estate was sitting on when I bought it. Aside from the hub-thread-stripping I described earlier that was already inflicted, I haven't encountered any problems yet. The amount of space left by these in the wheelarch is about the minimum I would countenance - and acts as a mechanical rear-arm-bearing-wear warning device!

Now I know what to look for

I’d just like to have a nice set of alloy wheels that suit the car

after all we don’t have to make our cars stand out as they can do that all on there own

and I have great fun taking on & thrashing the local barry boys in their Cosa‘s escorts & clios

(and a couple of Subaru’s*) round some of our fast and twisty country roads

and with nice wheels I can do it more stylishly
