Wanted - BX Seat belts - MOT failure!!

Post by zebedee150 »

My BX estate has just failed it's mot and one surprising item is that two of the rear seat belt buckles have parted company from the metal brackets which bolt to the floor pan. I think some chemical has been spilt in the back because the stitching on the rear seat back rest is also coming apart. If any body has a spare black TZD rear seat I up for that as well!
The seat belts I need are the two short webbing ones with the later style buckles (1990 onwards?). Can anybody help?!! Thanks

Sorry to sound the pessimist but I'd start to worry a bit if I were you!

This doesn't sound like the kind of damage that's localised to one MoT/one fix.

I'd pull out as much trim as you can and have a long, hard look at the metalwork under there if I were you.

French seats from the 80s and 90s are not known for their hard wearing qualities so the stitching is not a surprise. In conjunction with a clear rust problem, I'd be going in there with my Paranoia Hat on though. Sorry :(

I read that differently. To me, that reads as the bracket bolted to the floor is still fine, but the seatbelt webbing has failed. Is that correct?

Thus, by unbolting the seatbelt and bolting in a new one, there will be no problem
this might be a signature

Cor! High drama!
To explain- the stitching that holds the belt webbing has turned to dust! Trail of something spilt in the back when out on loan, truck wash or battery acid at a guess. Anyone who uses a BX as a mobile skip beware!

So- anybody got any spare belt buckles|?

Blagged my way through the mot. ABS light was doing an impression of a hazard warning light, on off, on, off!
Car now thinks it's a Lotus, fragile with bits dropping off!!

Has anybody heard from from Jonkw? Sent Jon a PM about his Bx estate but does not seem to be around.

Ah congrats!
I dont think Jon checks in here everyday, and I think he's been doing a fair mileage with work of late too.

I should PM him again mate.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
