Not sure if this is a suitable engine for the BX?

What the seller fails to mention is whether this is a naturally aspirated engine or a turbo one. Mind you, I don't think it's brand-new. The big blue +0.8 on the flywheel end would indicate it's a recon unit to me.

and as for it fitting an ax!

It looks as if it is a late 1769cc engine, exactly as you would expect to find in a C15D van.

Its recognisable as a late model due to the different timing covers fitted.

The following leads me to conclude its for a C15D van: no intercooler fitted, no spacers under the headbolts (as later turbo diesel versions used longer bolts).

I agree that the +0.8 indicates a reconditioned engine as this is the first oversize for a rebore on these engines.

Ideal if you have a 1769 N/A BX diesel, cheaper than rebuilding your own engine.

Further more the front pulley is of the torsional vibration damped type, whereas the Turbo diesel version has a fully balanced crank and uses a different type of crank pulley.

True, but more expensive and much more faff than buying a whole replacement BX....

I see your point on the bits on the engine (and the bits not on it) Given that it has later covers, it must be 1994(ish) or later, as I think that's when they changed.

So definitely a C15 engine.
