I can vouch for that one.docchevron1472 wrote:Ok, they all rot, and I've said before, you'll find rot on ANY BX you look at if you look in the right places, but the G and H reg valvers do seem to rust more.

As can I, my H reg was / currentley still is as ripe as a pear.
Yet my 500,000 F reg is still amazingly rot free, despite years of abuse and spending much of it's time covered in mud and cow sh!t.
BTW, I've sent a PM Phil.

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I do wonder if they changed metal suppliers at some point?
It seems (and remember I've chopped about a HUGE number of BX's) that early cars and later cars faired much better in the rust stakes, but G and H reg and early J reg cars seem to be much more prone to tin worm...
Same as the XUD lumps, from about 1990 for a couple of years the alloy heads seemed to be made from crapite.
Odd.
PM got Phil, I've put my mate in the know!

I completley cleaned the underside of my 16v 4 years ago to find suprisingly it was mint so it was undersealed and kept that way and the blue gti is even better
everytime it goes for mot the testers always comment on how mint it is underneath
