Finally decided to take a look at making the rev counter work in my car. I found the trigger wire... But the problem is at the back of the instrument cluster.
The thing I'm having trouble with is working out what all the wires are, and where I need to run the new wire too...
Any help would be appreciated. I've already had a look at the Haynes Manual, and drawn a blank.
Ok, in your second picture, ignore the flat 10 pin white multiplug, but look beneath it, at the 4 pin socket in white, encased in that round plastic thingy which rotates to unlock from the binnicle.
Thats the rev counter socket.
For the life of me I cant remember the pin outs off the top of my head, but I've got it written down somewhere!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
I thought there would only be 3 wires (Power, Earth and one from the trigger wire), but then again what do I know about electrics? What does the fourth one do?
If you could let us know what goes where, that would be ace.
Ok, I'll have to pull the instrument binnacle on the valver and get a pin out from that.
Rather foolishly I cut the loom off the scrapper valver. FOH.
I'll get on to it in the week mate.

Whilst all four wires are used on the rev counter itself, the two yellow leads are twinned, they are the trigger wire (s), then theres a live and an earth.
IF you're looking at the plug socket on the binnicle with the cut outs at the top it goes thus from left to right:
1: Live
2: Neutral
3: Trigger
4: Trigger.
Hope that helps.
