where does this go?

took the head off a while back, put it all back together apart from this.

engine runs fine (well apart from when you start it from warm when it takes a few secs to maintain idle) but the water temperature dial on the dash doesn't work, oil temp does though (if that makes any difference)

if you feel further down the cable their are two little single pin plugs that plug into the back of the engine.

would love to find a home for it, I look for somewhere every time I open the bonnet and fail :(

thanks

It's for a flywheel sensor, in use on some diesels, but left loose for a diagnostic socket on others.
Can't think of a use for it on a 16v unless it's for your oil level gauge.

Does it have an oil pressure/level gauge? I suspect it has something to do with the oil level. http://www.tramontana.co.hu/citroen/ele ... hboard.php

It goes nowhere. The oil level plug is a 2 pin plug.
The water temp plug is a one pin plug.

it is indeed an 8V engine, not the 16 but does have the oil level guage and oil temp as well as coolent temp.

now if it doesn't go any where then I'll assume the lack of temperature guage is a different problem (I'd hoped that this plugged in somewhere and problem would be fixed)

So any idea where to start looking to diagnose why the temperature gauge isn't working? it would be nice to have it working for piece of mind while driving

water temp sender is on the thermostat housing, infact there's 2 senders. One is the over heat sender, or the lamp of death..
T'other is the gauge sender. The over heat sender has a long 6 sided bit (where the spanner goes like) and the temp gauge sender is a short unit (16mm 6 sided but very short) (erm, I'ma bit pissed so apols on the lack of coherent info!).

.......next to the distributor. 'Follow' the dip stick, if the engine is hot let it cool. Pull out each wire in turn and ground them. the gauge should move to 'hot'. For the other wire; a red light will come on. . (can't figure out how i posted images last time!)

What I did was go to 'Grab the HTML/BBCode' (use the drop down arrow next to the Facebook and Twitter icons) and paste in part of the code then displayed, like this:
