Hello Kev,

I think the diesel pump has a smaller pulley diameter to the Petrol.

I don't know if these pulleys are interchangeable.

Hi NeilGP,
I've just been out to the TZD and measured the pulley and it is the 95 mm pulley, lucky really as I have already put a bid on one on ebay. :D

slow to rise

Post by tzd »

Hi guy's
I managed to get a remanufactured pump on ebay. It took me about 1 hour to swap over.
I managed to prime the pump quite easily by pouring fluid from the supply into the pump before refitting the supply. Started the engine and the car rose within 40 seconds from having no pressure in it at all, all the way to maximum height.
It seems to drive differently now, the steering is lighter and the braking sharper.

Next project,
when I get a bit more money together I am going to replace the front spheres and the accumulator.

Roll on more money.

Well done bud,

the sphere's front and back are not difficult to do as long as you follow the sticky on this forum. An excellent guide.

Good luck with it and finding more dosh.

I've done the front spheres on my previous BX before it was written off outside my house some years ago.
Quite an easy job to do as long as your careful about making sure the pressure has been released from the accumulator.
I bought a really big pair of Stilsons to do the job which have been in my tool box ever since, the Stilsons will have there day again.

I find just putting the car into the low position with no engine running, wait a few mins & gently unscrew them a bit, put some rags underneath & then a few mins later unscrew them, easy peasy, no need to mess with the regulator screw either if its just the front spheres. Never changed the accy sphere, so you might need to release the pressure regulator screw for that though.
