Wanted: Rear O/S rear brake pipe.

Post by adamskibx »

I changed a rear arm bearing, and when I went to do up the 24mm nut I had to move the coiled brake line out the way - It snapped. I can see a pipe on Ebay but it's missing the coil in the photo. Maybe it's just a generic photo, but I thought I would ask on here in case anybody has bought one successfully from somewhere, or have a spare one they would part with.

Thanks,

Adam

plaedies? can supply you a pipe for this, you need the amount of coils to allow for flexing of the pipe as there are no rubber flexi pipes on the rear, just measure the entire length of required brakepipe and being made from cupra nickel is quite easy to bend and mould into position.

That is genuine citroen parts, I'm guessing shared with the C15. At that price it's a no brainer tbh.

Ah ok, so I would have to go to the dealership to get this I am guessing? I could do with moving the car sooner than next Saturday. I noticed there is a kit with flaring tool on Ebay. Do you think that would work? I would imagine I would have to manually re-create the coiled up bit somehow.

Thanks,

yes it is you have to register, you can then use the parts look up section for free, but tech doc's you pay a subscription for how long you require, from i think half an hour upwards

nop the C15 has convetional rubber flexi's,

they do show as fitting some of the XANT range though

i think Martin would only make these pipes up out of 3.5mm kunifer,

i have never liked the idea of these being made out of this, as i cant see the coils can keep re/shaping on flexing

Malcolm,

Im fairly sure they would be fine. Think of the large coils inside a 2CV or Dyane rear axle, i believe the coils are there for the same reason that the BX's ones are. And bonaparte and ecas etc have sold many hundred (possibly thousands) for those cars. Im sure kunifer would be fine for the BX ones.

And Adam,

If you measure it up and are prepared to coil it yourself i can also make up the 3.5mm ones for you if needed :)
