Rear arm Bearings
Rear arm Bearings
I think the rear arm bearings are giving up on my car. The rear offside wheel is starting to lean inwards and that wheel inparticular emits a 'crack' noise when turning sharply. Do I need to replace both sides or just the one? Is this an easy job and when do I get the arm bearings from and how expensive will this be?

Re: Rear arm Bearings
I counsel that it's worth doing both at once. My o/s bearing was pretty bad - the car wandered at speed and there was a crack when I got in the car in the morning. The bearing was dry and collapsed. My mechanic thought the other side was ok - but I asked him to do it anyway. In fact when he got the bearing out, it was *just* starting to go, so it was a good job!OwenS wrote:I think the rear arm bearings are giving up on my car. The bearing kits are available from SKF. I paid £100 per side plus vat to get mine done.
Good luck!
Mark.
