Pleaides may even a reconditioned unit in stock they are exchange units, last time I enquired they were £130 ish for a pump but that was for a diesel.
Or they can rebuild your own unit.
New ones occasionally come up on ebay the last one I saw was £300 odd quid

For the record Pleaides were very helpful but it was basically going to be £200 to re-build my pump (inc. postage.....possibly just under). Chevronics have supplied me a second hand one for £104 delivered. No more strangled squirrel noises for me!

If you find a goods source of pumps, could you post it on here as I still need one for my BX diesel, but it's not a rush as the car isn't on the road at the minute.

Hi all, new BX person here! Question is, when the hydraulic pump gets older can it become difficult to turn and cause the v-belt to squeal? Any info appreciated thanks, James.

Have you checked the belts tension and importantly, condition? If worn, it is worth getting a new one rather than just tightening the old one hoping it wiil bite, that will put pressure on other parts.

Dave 16v, thanks we’re putting new belts on pump and alternator because its been laid up for a few years so we will see if that makes a difference! Fingers crossed that will fix it. Also doing cambelt as a precaution.
