BX Dyana - did they ever make it over here?

Post by M »

The BX Dyana - A sort of BX van (good idea with the HP suspension) also avail as a 2 door estate / 7 seater estate.

Did any ever come over to the UK?
Am I odd in thinking the 2 door estate looks uber sexy?

Jayboy or Justin who i co-write the CCC columns with has a BX van too. It came from Ireland.

I wonder if Tim Leech would be happy for me to camperise his 16TRS???

There is a Citroen Brochure from 1986 for this Dyana - so I think it existed, but probably didnt sell as well as the 4 door estate so was dropped.

I wanna Van

Ahh, more Googling has discovered both veesions to be coach built not by Citroen but by:
Henri Heuliez Automobiles

So never an official Citroen produced car then. Bummer.

Anyone fancy welding their back doors shut to create a replica?

The camper looks bloody awful, like someone has backed up at full tilt into a caravan. The van rocks though, I was seriously contemplating turning my old estate into one by having panels welded into where the rear side windows were and welding up the rear doors.

Billy

What's with the new signature? Are you working on a song?

Thanks Mr Fearn....and the van is nearing the stage it's ready for an MoT. Left it halfway through an octopus change last night then I really only need to look at rear arm bearings and replace the fuel pipe.

Then just a damn good clean!!

For what it's worth, Heuliez made all BX estates and variants of it. As well as the Dyana there was the Buffalo which is a standard 5 door shell but kitted out with wood trim and leather on the inside.

Haven't been able to find any production figures but rumour has it only 50 odd vans were produced in rhd for the Irish market and I have never seen one in lhd except in publicity photos as seen above.

BTW the '3 door' BX coupe posted by Marty is actually a 4 door hatch rather than a 3 or 5 door. The other side is actually standard (with 2 doors) and carries the Sport bodykit!

I am, but it`s nothing to do with my signature! That is part of a song by Mulligan and O`Hare, aka Reeves (aka Jim Moir) and Mortimer

Marty, the creation based on the 4x4 looks exactly like my little one`s Barbie convertable
