Just to clarify (and get them both in the same post :) ),

The large O-ring (No. 11) is 42mm dia, round section, 1.6mm thickness
The small O-ring (No. 13) is 16.4mmx19 dia, square section, 1.3mm thickness

:?:

Cheers,

Mark.

Just had a look on Citroen service net to re-assure availability of the most vital parts for overhauling the Brake doseur valve.
Parts are valid for BX/CX/XM/Xantia doseur valves all models all valve styles.

3 - 95.640.067 RUBBER PROTECTOR (rubber knob)
11 - 79.03.065.983 (*NFP) O-RING DIAM 40X43,2X1,6 (end cap seal) early BX/CX 2piston style
11 - 95.638.813 O-RING TOR 42 T1,6 (end cap seal) later 3piston style

Sorry Mark

But "The small O-ring (No. 13) is 16.4mmx19 dia, square section, 1.3mm" is not a square section, its a round section.
This is to make it as flexible as possible as its used for compressing the tephlone ring round the piston.

OK great thanks for clearing that up; it was just that No. 13 looked square section in the exploded diagram.

BTW, what does the "x19" bit mean?

Thanks,

Mark.

So in the end, the only part which is really hard to find would be...

11 - 79.03.065.983 (*NFP) O-RING DIAM 40X43,2X1,6 (end cap seal) early BX/CX 2piston style

...right?

For the 3 piston / 1988< type, all seals should be available somewhere through normal channels? I'll ask around in Germany and France when I get the Chance. Where did you get that availability info from? If it's the same service net the Swiss citroen branch is using, it would be odd that they told me it's not available anymore, as I was calling the head office. Maybe it was a misunderstanding.

Thanks for all the infos, Anders!

At the risk of repeating myself, and for anyone who hasn't read the whole thread, I know for a fact this has happened to myself and somebody else here in France :

"However, a word of warning to anybody attempting this job : I have bought two o-rings since doing my doseur (part n° 79 03 065 984), and they were both the wrong size (too small).

These parts come from the factory, so there is a fair chance it could also happen to anybody else, so verify before opening/taking off your doseur.

The correct size is 16.4x19-1.3."

Hi,
Anyone know if this seals are still available? I have a GTI that sinks at the back quite quickly when switched off.

Hi
I have this problem on my estate but have just scrapped my old hatch and have removed the doseur valve from that so will overhaul that.
Also near to where i live is acompany that make viton seals so i will attempt to take the sizes to them to see if they are a standard type.
If i am lucky i will find out the part numbers for their seals and post them on here.

Regards Kermit

Only just got round to reading this thread and wish I had earlier... my TZD Break tends to drop quickly at the rear, so maybe there's a doseur problem, although it's less apparent since I gave the system a good workout the other day, moving it from high to low repeatedly and working the steering through its full range.
I've got a spare doseur on the spares car, so I think I'll look into getting some new seals, rebuilding that and maybe changng the doseur at the same time as the heater valve, since both involve some delving down behind the engine. Would definitely be interested to know if seals are available from another source.

Please let me know how it goes. I have never gotten seals to sort out mine. I'm light years away from any Citroen dealer/spares shop.

But they weigh nothing - surely some dealer would post them to you...?

Sadly most people ship everywhere else other than Africa. To some extend I can understand their fears. But a lot has changed. The perception though will take time to change, hopefully in our lifetime.

I'm sure with the miracle of Paypal someone on here would buy two sets when they're doing their unit and send you the second set. If non one's done so by the time I get round to doing mine, I'm happy to do that (but you may have to wait a while!).
