I work in Shepton Mallet, closer to you than Yeovil so if you want to pop over to hear the noise a HP pump should make you're more than welcome. Could be a tired pump, does the system leak anywhere?
I think I shall try and speak to the garage first with a view to taking it up there.
i think i have a handle on the noise now, I think I will just have to keep driving the car until I fix it or it breaks in the short term, which isn't an issue as I have breakdown cover and other cars I can use.

I will try and check the leak back to the Lhm tank tho, which may be a clue.

I see a beekeeper in the background.

Got many hives? Did they all survive the winter?

Sorry to hijack, but all three of our hives survived the winter well. We tend to mostly let them get on with things by themselves and have never fed them, we only go into the hives to take off honey, do maintenance or check all is well. We've also never had, nor treated for verroa. My opinion is disturbing them less stresses them less, so they'll be happier/healthier. Quite happy with our bees :D

GTI looks stunning, they always do in shiny black. I think you've got rather a nice one there!

Yes, wife is the beekeeper.
We started the winter with 3 hives, one starved, one swarmed yesterday.

Swarm control can be difficult, i always went into my hives every fortnight this time of year either to remove queen cells or if needed to perform an artificial swarm.
Can be a problem if you are running 50+ stocks as i as a few years ago.
However, if you have lots of spare honey, ime part of the South of England show and if you need to sell any, let me know.
And bud, there is never enough bee chat these days!! More than enough about BXs though.

Ours haven't swarmed for the last 2 years which is great, but we've been waiting for them to so my mum can have a colony. 50+! Crikey Andy, between those and you're cars, i'm surprised you had time to eat and stuff!

@Tim, =D> awful...

That was a while back Tom,

havent any bees now but will take up again when mum goes. Will probably start again with Langstroth hives, all brood chambers so everything is standard. Taught the subject at evening class many years ago. Its like riding a bike, once learned, never forgotten.

And i agree with you, Tim, that was Bee awful!!

Well, been over to see Martin at Pleides this morning (3 hours each way) and as he suspected the source of my fast 'ticking' was indeed the pressure valve.
He fitted a reconditioned one (after testing the old one) and had a good look over the car, which was worth going to see him for anyway.
In the end had 4 new spheres fitted, as he said he would test them for me, and spheres from both ends were down 10 psi. so as they were £32 each fitted, made sense to me.

Tick rate now about once every 30 seconds or so.

Can't recommend Martin and Pleides highly enough, very knowledgable about BX's and no pressure to sell you something you don't want or need.

Excellent, thats sorted for a good few years now, you will notice the difference in ride, spheres can deteriorate slowly so its not so noticeable until you fit new ones and then its like WOW!

Yup. I'm doing the 'wow' thing with mine at the moment. It'll be even better when I get that arm bearing sorted!
