1984 BX 16TRS
Thought I'd do a quick gallery post of the new arrival. I've already plastered Facebook and my blog with some images, but thought they're fairly easy to miss for passers-by, so here we are!
Still has the protective sheets on the rear carpet!
No rear seatbelts, something I'll have to rectify. The fronts are grey/black block patterned, so finding rears to match that will be nigh-on impossible!
It does run (quite sweetly in fact, but then it should for 17,000 miles!( but the carb needs setting up. It also needs four new tyres, as they're the ORIGINALS! It has a catastrophic LHM leak too, one that prevents it from lifting. Won't be doing anything with it immediately, it's more a case of securing it as it's a model/spec I always wanted. But next year I plan to be driving it around

It's the sunlight that degrades them and makes them crazed and split.
I had four on my triumph herald, for 12 years always parked the same way round, the two on the sunny side are completely shot, but the two on the dark side are perfect !!

Re: 1984 BX 16TRS
In that case, it's good news as these belts in my car (front and back) came from a Mk. 2 TRS spec car. It was white with tabac interior (the one GaryC broke). You'll need to work out if it is TRS spec or white tweed that has these belts in them but you should be able to get hold of a set.
They bolted straight in the back of the car in about half an hour with the rear boot trim removed.
P.S. Your 16TRS looks great by the way. Hope you get it on the road next year. I used to have A966 XRL, a 1984 16TRS, looked just the same.

No Mk1 came with a radio fitted from the factory, they were all dealer fit.

Nor did the early MK2's. My brand new E reg GTi came without but was quickly fitted with unit/speakers of choice when I got it home.Tim Leech wrote:Kitch wrote:No, I noticed that. It's got a black plastic oddments tray in there....Tim Leech wrote:No radio?

Re: 1984 BX 16TRS
Cheers for the heads up James.
Hopefully it'll be on the road next year, not in a pristine form or anything, but something approaching usable
