drive shaft

Post by really? »

Am looking for a nearside cv joint/drive shaft 90 teeth/splines ABS for turbo diesel, getting very urgent.

Alternatively can anybody recommend someone who rebuilds them.

Replaced rebuilt ones on a different car many years ago and they failed again within 5k miles.

Please no mention of hens teeth. I know!!!!!!! :(

Not rare at all, or expensive. Search J&R trading Driveshafts, always get all my shaft from them.
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Got mine for the t/d from a place in Birmingham, new off the shelf for £30 plus pp, will try to find the receipt, is the same as a gti being the slightly bigger diameter shafts. 40k's on still ok.

Thanks for replies.

Before I asked, explored Citroen and motor factors and no joy.

Have heard of J and R in Birmingham and then read some very worrying feedback about their joints so thought I'd try here first and if all else fails will have to bite the bullet and go for remanufactured aftermarket ones.

It is the CV joint itself which is clonking, it may be easier to just buy the whole driveshaft with new joint, we did fill with new grease but of course they don't heal themselves.

I've had more than a dozen shafts from J&R over the past 5 years or so and of the cars I'm still in touch with, not one of them has had a problem.

Hi Ken have just seen your post, sorry, have been working away again for two weeks.

Do you still have a good used nearside driveshaft with the 90 splines for abs?

If you do please pm me.

Thanks

Hi all, bit the bullet and bought a driveshaft from J&R, it arrived today.

WRONG ONE.

Having phoned them to explain they admitted finally that they do not do the one with 90 splines. Very good communication no problems dealing with them at all.

Back to square one again.

STILL LOOKING

You can get 90 segment reluctor rings to convert standard CV joints. Saw them on ebay a while back from a german seller.
Also various French sites used to list ABS drive shafts. There is a couple showing on Oscaro for example and piecesavanue.

Link to pieces avenue : http://citroen.piecesavenue.com/bx-xb/1 ... ansmission

Oscaro I think are a bit cheaper but it depends on shipping of course : http://www.oscaro.com/cardan-citroen-bx ... 706-936-gt

Have you tried Edwards , BX breaker in Essex ??

90 splines is a lot but is normal for tzd turbo with abs, same I believe as gti.

Am in Brighton with the shafts on the car, using as a daily driver till I find the correct part and replace it.

Pics impossible at the moment but believe me it has 90.
