on A very long overdue catch up, last year was a tough year, as mentioned we lost Mum in april, I had health issues which resulted in a hospital visit, but with some pills im doing well, and in September we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our little dog, he was suffering with doggy dementia and had degraded so he had no quality of life, even thought we doted over him.
Car wise there has been a few changes, the Dyane went, and was replaced in June by an Austin Maestro 1.3...an itch I want to scratch, as we had them in the family from new, it has been off the road for nearly 30 years, the fuel system was a real pain and the brakes especially, coming down to a failed servo, a new screen was needed, (Not mentioned in the sale description) which was fun locating.... im still enjoying it.
The TZi made the BX 40, and a few local meets, and was tucked away, until February this year, but needed to attend Barrys Annell's wife's funeral, so was duly taxed, cleaned and made the trip to bourne, but was unhappy on the way home after sitting in a jam for 2 hours (lorry fire), with the K light coming on, its currently in the naughty garage!
As I am off on the another Classic Challenge with Phil and the boys, I wanted to get the GT back on the road, so it was out of the barn and in for an MOT and attend to the low pressure leak, some new brakes, a new suspension gaiter and we have a MOT, but is also going to a local Citroen specialist in Derby to have the pipes looked at and most probably replaced (they are the originals from 1985), and all being well, some cosmetics before the off, as the drivers door and wing are off colour having been replaced/repainted a while ago.
Its going to be a few quid but she's worth it, and will be 40 years old next year, and mine since 2007, and we've had 10000 miles plus of continental travel!

New front to rear pipes fitted along with new discs and pads and rear subframe bushes… off to paint next!

You are lucky having a Cit garage nearbye. We BXers are not well served and the few specialists we have, for me are hours away, and have huge waiting lists so my BX has been off the road for getting on for a year.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

I normally go to Chevronics as they are great, but they are booked up until after I head off to France, but was very pleased with how Eurocarcare looked after me to be honest, and will use them again, I may even get them to look at the Xantia!

I am envious of you being able to go on another of Phil's French escapades. I actually took part in the first three of them but then other things intruded to prevent me taking part even with a roadworthy BX due to the Brexit 90 day limit as I still go over to France for the winter months and will continue to do so for as long as I can.

Thanks John, yes I remember the 2012 one well with your GTi being a little bit naughty, your welcome to join us anytime, although spending the winter months in France sounds good to me! Maybe one day!

well the GT is back from the body shop, the drivers door and wing are colour matched to the rest of the car finally! and the small dent and scratch on the roof have been repaired (which have been there since I got it in 2007), new stripes fitted and a new trim piece below wing/bumper as the previous one was ripped.
New wheel bolts and nut caps fitted as the ones I had were too short (been on there for years but not for a BX) new oil and filter, plugs, front indicators and general check over
Lastly a good snow foam bath, zip wax and ceramic coat and she shines like a new pin!
France here we come

Ah, shame. I would love that colour if I had a GT. I think it suits the car really well. The only gripe I have is that it doesn't have the beige interior to match. There is a GT in the Netherlands which has that colour combination. Though, if I could choose any colour for a GT, I'd go with green. I do actually like the greyish blue that they're most often found in, but this green is really appealing.

As its a "86MY", they all adopted the black CX Turbo style interior, but it did gain an electric sunroof, but lost the computer ahead of the gearlever, instead having a digital clock.Jugostran wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 8:13 am Ah, shame. 1350 miles round france completed, I had to adjust the clutch, and I have developed a wheel wobble aswell as a hesitation/stuttering at light throttle, and I think its riding a bit high and the ride is a little crashy

Ah, I did not know that! I thought they all looked the same regardless of model year. Shame they lost the trip computer. They were actually planned for the Mk2 BX. It's such a shame the Mk2 never actually got a trip computer. Oh, that doesn't sound too good. Hesitation and stuttering at light throttle? Damn, that's eerie. Mine just had the same issue which quickly developed into stalling at anything but idle or full throttle. Turns out the base of the carb was warped. Looking at your pictures, and its hard to tell, but it could be riding slightly too high? Mine is adjusted to 162 mm from the bottom of the sill to the ground (yeah I know the measurements are done on the suspension itself, but I just didn't care so I adjusted it to what the owners manual said it should ride at). Having a crashy ride though...that's odd. Having the suspension slightly too high (like yours) shouldn't cause that much of a difference. Love to see pictures of DKK. Those seats are very nice to look at. Also, is that gauge cluster counting the total mileage in km or miles? Because if it is accurate and reading miles, that'd mean DKK has over 300k km (which would be mighty impressive).
