BX 16 Automatic

Post by trecasi »

My BX 16 TGS Auto has developed a big leak of Transmission fluid. Does anyone know of any specialists, preferably in the Northwest ?

I've no experience of them so can't personally recommend but there's Westroen in Manchester, they seem to get good reviews from others.

Thanks for that - but they only deal with the hydraulics, not the gearboxes.

I would get a diagnosis of where it is leaking from first then you know what you are dealing with. It might just be a driveshaft seal.

As Jaba says, try to find out where the leak is coming from first.

More than likely, it’ll just be a seal. The driveshaft seals are easy enough to replace & readily available.

It could be a rusty oil pan, in which case you’ll need to replace it.

Otherwise it could be coming from the oil cooler, the seal below it, the dipstick, the oil pan gasket, or the torque converter oil seal, but that would be difficult to repair as you’d need to remove the gearbox to get to it.

I don’t know where abouts you are, but there is an automatic gearbox specialist in Denton, Manchester, near the crown point shopping centre. As far as I’m aware, they’ll be able to fix anything gearbox related, but they might not be familiar with the BX in general.

Hope that helps.
