Re: Colour code for black side moldings - BX Break
Good progress, especially in the winter months when most of us leave renovating BXs well alone. Many have tried to reduce the noise level but with varying degrees of success. My solution to this is to have a more powerful sound system that can be turned up enough to mask the 1980's noise level with music of a similar vintage listened to by additional speakers installed in the parcel shelf, doing away with those tiny C panel speakers and putting more robust ones in the front doors.

Re: BX Break TZS renovation
Hello ! Forgive me for disappearing from the forum, but I had some health problems (including a hernia) that stopped me. But here I am again.. since the beginning of August I have started work on the BX, finally dismantling the engine!
A difficult job to removing the axle shafts, it made me waste a lot of time, but then with a long lever, I solved it. Subsequently, after a good job, I finally managed to remove the engine! a great satisfaction. I immediately noticed some problems, fortunately minor:
- broken pressure plate lever
- broken flywheel rpm sensor support
Now I have taken the engine to the workshop, and they have started to dismantle it, it seems in good health, I will fit new Tarabusi rods and pistons.

Re: BX Break TZS renovation
I will have to replace a half-shaft, the left one, as it has problems with the bearing (I don't think I can replace it).
Finally a doubt: I noticed that a screw of the cylinder head remains "high" and does not go into contact with the cylinder head: checking on the internet I noticed that it needs a spacer..coincidentally it was missing :S
Can anyone give me the dimensions of this spacer, so that I can have it made in the workshop?

Re: BX Break TZS renovation
In the meantime I couldn't resist trying to mount the front lights
I'll have to fix the frame a bit because it was in an accident on the left side, but it can be fixed (the bumper doesn't fit well in the guides).

Re: BX Break TZS renovation
Hello everyone !
Just an update about the renovation works :
I've finish to renovate the whole front side, with brake disc, brake pad, brake pipes and steering head. Also on the back of the car, new brake disc and pad.
In the meantime, i cleaned the underbody. Now, finally, the BX is on its wheels!
At the same time, the head has been completed and ready to fit on the engine

Re: BX Break TZS renovation
Here the alloy wheels fit on the BX, it's looks good, but i need to modify just a little the rear fender, because the tires touch the fender..but just only on the "rest position".

Are the bearings of the rear suspension arms ok. When worn the wheels splay outwards / \ and can then rub on the bodywork.Rickyalbe wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:21 am Here the alloy wheels fit on the BX, it's looks good, but i need to modify just a little the rear fender, because the tires touch the fender..but just only on the "rest position".

Thanks for the warning, one of them might actually be damaged, since it touches a bit..
I'm checking the BE3 gearbox now, the oil seals seemed healthy, there were no oil leaks. The only problem was the thrust bearing, I had to buy a new one because the kit was for the BE3 gearbox of the 205 GTI (with another lever).
in the meantime I discovered that almost the entire exhaust line was rotten

I have already bought the spare parts for the exhaust line.. what a hassle..

And not happy, I found myself with a cracked cast iron exhaust manifold... since no one wants to repair it or is asking me for €500... I made a groove in the crack and put on specific silicone for high temperatures... we'll see if I won or if I did something useless
