Re: TIMS BX BLOG
BX Gt is now the same shape again, only £200 to fix, the gent who hit me agreed to pay for the repair and oddly enough, hes gone deaf, I let my insurance know, but didn't claim as I wouldn't let any old body shop work on it, plus my excess if £250, which I would have to pay until it was refunded.
Now do I go after him, the ambulance chasers have already been contacting me ....

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
The small claims court is ideal for claims like this. Its a bit of hassle but is a way of ensuring you get the dosh owed to you plus your costs.

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
Its decided against the small claims court, I just cant be bothered. I've contacted his insurance to raise a claim, but apparently as he hasn't reported it, and they are unable to get hold of him, there is nothing that can be done....that's the world we live in.
The BX TZi has gone, to a good home, and the GT is in storage until the Chevrons rally,
I turned the big 50 last month and had a wonderful cruise round the north of France and spain.....
Also the TF and Beetle has issues with the brakes....

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
Why not set an ambulance chaser on him, they might scare him with their additional costs. I know its only for £200 but if you want easy justice it might be a good idea.

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
I called Admiral, his insurance company this morning, and thank the lord, he has responded and they are refunding me my money! Took 40 mins on hold, and I did ask, if I had not called, would I have been refunded, they assured me it would have been eventuallyJaba wrote: Sun Aug 11, 2024 5:49 pm Why not set an ambulance chaser on him, they might scare him with their additional costs. No wonder the world is in a mess when a simple car collision results in irresponsible dishonesty. I expect you will hang on to the £200 since it will be coming out of his pocket as a compulsory excess.
Admiral are not known to be a top 10 insurer for paying claims so you have done well to get this far Tim.

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
Happy new year everyone, a few changes here!
Another forced move of car storage after 6 years made for a couple of departures as the new place, albeit closer to home, was more expensive and smaller (that was the initial plan). The maestro needed plenty of work so that went at quite a financial loss, and I donated our much loved Rover 25, which belonged to my late mother, to the Great British Car Journey, to give me more space.
The week before the car barn move, the new landlord advised me that the one he had lined up for me, was not finished (or even started) but had one I could use, but would be more expensive, I had no choice to agree but negotiate on price. The new barn is huge, easy room for 16 cars, but access is poor due to it being on a busy ind estate and always covered in mud. We are working on alternative on site.....
So I bought a Saxo and another BX of course!

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
Hello everyone, well it seems cheap bxs arent cheap, £1000 doesn't buy you much nowadays,
The 16TRS in Magnetic Blue is rather scruffy but solid, albeit being shorter on one side as its had a accident on the rear..
I made a trip over to peterborough on a BX and Xantia parts hoard and got most of the parts I needed....the ruined drivers seat (car spent time in the south of France so got sun damaged), plus lots of clips and switches, an unbroken glovebox, parcel shelf, rear lamps for the Xantia etc.
The little Saxo is a great car, 1.5D SX 5 dr, one of the very first made, only having done 42000 miles, and one owner for 25 years...the glowplugs were shot and there was no cambelt changed recorded so they were first done, along with a very overdue service...replaced some broken parts, scuffed hubcaps etc!
The Xantia is now pretty much sorted, asides some paintwork....lots of little jobs, inc belts and fluids, new correct exhaust rear silencer and some trim parts all the way from Iran!
The BX has has its daft and rather unsafe suspension spacers removed but still wears its Ronal Alloys, of which I have warmed too, even if they are worth more than the car itself!

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
That BX has been very lucky to land with someone not looking to trash it further.
I wasn't against the 'pre-crash' bonnet and lowering, the the dangers you've unearthed are super scary!

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
Thanks Vanny
Its coming along nicely, but the elephant in the room is the NSR 1/4 which is shorter than the other!
Progress is slow but sure, the lowering kit has been removed and the bonnet returned to its correct position.
Ive fitted a new drivers seat without huge holes in, a glovebox with working hinges and a new speedo cable so it doesn't dance all over the place!
Also 4 new taller tyres so it rides better and are closer to the original 165/70 14 rolling radius

Those wheels with those tyres look really nice on it. Really nice spec, that. I especially adore the GT spoiler it had (I wish mine had that!)

Re: TIMS BX BLOG
Well the blue BX has been sold to an old club member I haven't seen in years artic steel, it made a tidy car but was too scruffy for me, the damaged rear 1/4 panel and boot floor would cost to much to fix to my standards so he has had it....it didnt need much for the MOT and he is going to enjoy
The little saxo diesel has had the paintwork and dents fixed but will be off to a new home soon, and a silver 19TZD is incoming...one I have owned before!
